The brain is the coordinator of the central nervous system which controls all the body activities. Brain training is the process of identifying individual’s cognition abilities and finding ways to improve them.

There are a variety of ways to ensure that the human brain remains healthy and is able to handle all its functions correctly. The first and major way of maintaining brain fitness is mental exercise. Practice makes perfect.

Stimulating the neurons inside the brain helps maintain connections with various organs. This is achieved by repeatedly using one’s brain to solve problems for example in arithmetics. Instead of using electronic equipment let the brain do the work.

Other activities like working out crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and reading are ideal for brain exercise. It is also important to adopt a reading culture. Physical exercises play a vital role in ensuring the brain remains healthy. Regular exercises are important to ensure a steady blood-flow as well as making sure oxygen is supplied in plenty to different organs.

As such, activities like swimming, regular walking, playing tennis, riding bicycles and dancing are less vigorous physical activities that can go a long way in maintaining brain fitness. These exercises also help in reducing stress which can hinder a healthy brain.

Eating healthy is key to development of an individual both physically and mentally. Food that is rich in antioxidants are very vital and help individuals keep focus. Avocados and fish aid in development of the brain. Having a meal of whole grains once in a while has been known to reduce the risk of stroke.

Rather surprising but important is the fact that breakfast is the most important meal for the brain. Contemplate missing other meals but make sure you take breakfast! Remember raw and organic foods are less rich in toxins that are not recommended for the brain.

Diet supplements can also go along way to ensure fitness of the brain. Omega 3 amino acids and Vitamin B supplements are good examples. Maintaining the brain and the body in general is also important as a far as mental training is concerned. One should also protect their heads when doing tasks that expose them to risks.

You should always remember to wear safety belts while driving and helmets while cycling. Smoking or any other kind of drug should be avoided at all costs. Drugs are number one enemy to the brain as is clearly evident. Most drug users usually have a retarded brain. Finally, keeping close social ties with friends and neighbors ensures new learning experiences.

A person with friends he can share his problems to is less likely to be affected by stress. Remember no man lives alone. Take time to socialize and interact with people from different upbringing, backgrounds and social status for example through online media. Join clubs or groups that keep you occupied. You will learn a lot of new things from such groups and boost your cognitive skills.
